but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.

Devotion

I used to work in the commercial building industry where we would develop huge building sites. On one particular occasion, we built a skyscraper, and for over six months, every day, we would go down into the ground where it was dark and dirty. It was quite demoralizing for the 200 or so people working on site, and some days, it felt like we weren’t getting ahead. How did they make sure they kept us in line with our purpose? As we walked into the construction site every day, we saw a huge poster of the concept plan of the skyscraper; a vision of what was to come. There was something about that vision that kept us all focused on the hard work, because we knew there was a greater purpose behind it. In the midst of uncertainty, I want to assure you that God's plan is still working in the same way for you.

The Bible says, “He's the same yesterday today and forever,” so is His plan for you. God's plan; His plan alone (as it says in the Good News Bible) is His purpose for your life. God has created you with a purpose. However it might look, remember He has a great purpose for your life! Let’s pray and believe together that God is going to reveal His purpose to you, because it says in Habakkuk 2:2, “Write down the vision, your purpose and make it clear, and then you and others will be able to follow it”. Maybe after this prayer, you can write it down too! Keep reminding yourself that God has promises and a purpose for your life!

Prayer

God, thank You that I have the opportunity to come to You as the giver of purpose, Lord, You're the only one that knows the plans for my life, so today, I ask God that You would show me Your purpose for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
