Devotion
Another big key for living in victory is learning to be really good at saying “No!” We should be saying “Yes” to God but “No” to any area of temptation in our lives.
We all get tempted to do wrong in heaps of different ways. Even Jesus was tempted. Crazy, but true. He never sinned, but the Bible tells us clearly that He faced temptation. He just knew how to stand his ground and say “No.”
Sometimes it’s big obvious things, while at other times it’s much smaller things, but the enemy is always against God’s people and working at ways that he can tempt us and trick us into things that will hold us back. If you’re facing some kind of temptation, don’t be discouraged. You’re not an idiot or a weak Christian. The enemy is targeting you because you’re a threat! Think about this: In sport, the opposition team will always target the best players. Treat it as a compliment and thank God for the opportunity to grow!
A big key to winning is not stopping to engage in conversation with the enemy. Eve stopped and talked to the snake in the garden and look where that got us! Don’t think about it. Don’t entertain it. Don’t argue yourself into it. Just make a split second decision to say “No” and keep moving forward. Run towards God and away from whatever the temptation is. The more you do it, the easier it gets! It’s time for victory!
