Sam

Hey planetboom, it’s Sam here!

Today I’m going to talk about the Word of God, particularly trusting His Word through tough times.

This year, I went through one of the toughest times in my life. My baby sister, Zoe, had a seizure. It was on a Saturday afternoon, I was with her as she was taking a nap. She woke up crying really loud then all of a sudden stopped. I looked over and she had started seizing up. I panicked and I didn’t know what to do. I called out to my Mum who was in the living room. Zoe was rushed to the hospital.

Throughout the whole situation, I was scared. I didn’t know what would happen and what to do. I called Pastor Ethan and told him everything. He prayed for me over the phone and also encouraged me to trust God. He told me to read the Bible and to trust God’s word.

One of the verses I read was:

Deuteronomy 31:6(NIV)
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Another verse was:

Isaiah 41:10(NIV)
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

These verses allowed me to trust God throughout the whole situation. This encouraged me to believe that God is the God of breakthrough. From His word I was able to believe that everything was going to be and everything turned out well!

My baby sister Zoe got out of hospital 2 days later and she came home as if nothing had happened to her. I knew that God had His hand over the situation because His word said so!

I want to encourage you planetboom to get into the Word of God and trust in what He says. The Word will encourage you. It’s such a great tool to strengthen our faith in God, especially through hard times. So today - try reading these verses too and make a decision to believe them for your own life and whatever you may be facing!

Scripture

Matthew 4:4 (NLT)

But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say,

‘People do not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”.
