God Is On Our Side
God has always been on our side. From the very beginning, He created humanity for relationship and closeness with Him. Even when sin separated us, His love never changed. Through Jesus, the way back to relationship was opened, and through the Holy Spirit, God remains with us, strengthens us, comforts us, and empowers us. No matter what challenges we face, we can stand confident knowing that God is for us, God is with us, and God is working on our behalf.
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Challenges arise, pressure builds, and circumstances can leave us wondering how we will make it through. Financial stress, health battles, difficult relationships, unexpected setbacks, and disappointments can all create moments where fear and discouragement try to take hold.
Yet in the middle of life's uncertainty, there is a truth that remains constant. God is on our side.
Romans 8:31 says, ”If God is for us, who can ever be against us?“ That question carries incredible power because the answer changes everything. Nobody can stand against what God has already overcome. Jesus has won the victory, and because Jesus won, we stand in that victory too. Whatever we face today, we do not face it alone.
One of the greatest revelations we can receive is understanding that God has always wanted relationship with us. Right from the beginning, humanity was created for closeness with God. He desired fellowship. He desired connection. He wanted people who would walk with Him, talk with Him, and live in relationship with Him.
Sin disrupted that relationship. Humanity chose its own way, and separation entered the story. Yet even then, God's response was not rejection. His response was love.
Because of His grace and mercy, God put into motion His plan to restore what had been broken. Jesus came, gave His life on the cross, carried our sin, and opened the way for humanity to come back into relationship with the Father. God's heart has always been restoration. His desire has always been closeness.
Sometimes people settle for a Sunday relationship with God. We come to church, spend a few moments in His presence, and then move on with the rest of life disconnected from Him. But genuine relationship cannot thrive from occasional moments alone. God invites us into something deeper. He invites us to walk with Him daily, hear His voice, know His presence, and grow close to Him.
God never forces relationship. He honours the free will He has given us. He invites rather than demands. His arms remain open, waiting for us to choose Him.
The invitation remains the same today. Choose closeness. Choose relationship. Choose to walk with God.
Psalm 27:1-6 paints a beautiful picture of confidence in God:
”The Lord is my light and my salvation, so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?“
Life brings challenges that can feel overwhelming. For some it may be financial pressure. For others it may be health struggles, difficult family situations, workplace stress, or seasons where the future feels uncertain. These are often the moments where fear becomes loud and lies begin to creep in.
Where is God?
Does He care?
Has He forgotten me?
The pressure of life can make those voices sound convincing. Circumstances can feel bigger than hope. But God's Word reminds us of what remains true regardless of what we feel.
Isaiah 41:10 says:
”Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.“
God has not abandoned us in difficult seasons. He walks with us through them. He strengthens us in weakness. He brings peace when life feels heavy. Whatever battle stands in front of us today, we can stand confident knowing that God is on our side.
Whatever you are facing today, you do not face it alone. God has not forgotten you. He has not stepped away from your circumstances. Through Jesus, the victory has already been won, and through the Holy Spirit, we have the Helper walking beside us every day.
The pressures of life may come. Difficult seasons may arise. Fear and discouragement may try to speak loudly. But God's truth remains unchanged. He is faithful. He is present. He is for you.
Choose Him daily. Draw close to Him. Position yourself for His presence. Let the Holy Spirit strengthen, refresh, and lead you.
God has always been on your side. He is on your side today. And He will continue to be with you every step forward.
Father,
Thank You that You are always with us. Thank You that You have never left us and never stopped loving us. Help us trust You in every season. Strengthen us when we feel weak. Remind us that You are our refuge, our help, and our peace. Fill us afresh with Your Holy Spirit and draw us into deeper relationship with You. Thank You that You are for us and that You walk beside us every day.
In Jesus' name,
Amen
