A Love Revival

In a divided and fractured world, God is calling His Church in 2026 to lead with love. Not sentimental or weak love, but strong, covenant, Christ-shaped love. This is the year of a love revival, a love revolution, and a love reformation. God’s love for us establishes identity. God’s love in us establishes strength and stability. God’s love through us establishes influence. And when love leads a people, everything changes.

Sermon Notes

Last year, while seeking the Holy Spirit about the theme for 2026, God began to speak prophetically. At the time, it seemed timely. But none of us knew what would unfold in Australia or around the world.

We are living in an age marked by division, outrage, fear and polarisation. Families are divided. Communities are fractured. Nations are strained. The emotional temperature of our world is rising, and the relational fabric is thinning.

The world does not need better systems. It does not need more education. It needs a revival of love. And in 2026, we are declaring a Love Revival.

Love Is the Foundation

1 John 4:8
“Anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”

God is not loving as an action only. Love is His nature. Everything He does flows from who He is.

Psalm 136 declares again and again that His steadfast love endures forever. Love is the foundation. If God is love, then everything we do must flow from love.

1 Corinthians 13:1
“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.”

Without love, we are noise. Without love, power corrupts. Without love, gifting divides. Without love, truth becomes harsh. Love is not a soft value. It is the foundation of Christian authority.

In 2026, love will lead.

God’s Love for Us: Identity Established

Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Before you improved, He loved you. Before you repented, He pursued you. Before you promised, He provided.

1 John 4:10
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

Love moved first. Love initiated.

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The cross is proof that you are wanted, pursued, and chosen.

Ephesians 2:4–5
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”

When love is revealed, shame loses authority. Romans 8:1 tells us there is now no condemnation. Orphan thinking collapses. Fear of rejection resolves. Performance Christianity breaks.

We will not strive for approval. We will live from acceptance. Secure sons and daughters reform environments.

God’s Love in Us: Strength and Stability

Rooted in love. Established in love. Strengthened in love.

This year, we are declaring that we will live strong. No matter what is happening in the world around us, we will be rooted in God’s love.

1 John 4:18
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear.”

Fear destabilises families. Fear destabilises churches. Fear destabilises nations. But love stabilises the mind and anchors identity.

2 Timothy 1:7
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”

God has not given us a spirit of fear but rather power, love, and a sound mind.

When love leads, we do not react from insecurity. We do not control from fear. We respond from strength.

Colossians 3:14
“And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

Strong love produces strong Christians. Strong love produces strong leaders. Strong love produces strong churches.

Revival Marked by Love

Love has marked true revivals throughout history.

During the ministry of Charles Finney, regions were transformed as people encountered what he described as waves of liquid love. Hardened sceptics wept. Communities shifted. Crime declined.

The Welsh Revival of 1904 and 1905 saw entire towns changed. Courtrooms emptied. Public life shifted. The consistent testimony was this: the presence of God felt like holy love.

Romans 2:4
“Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realising that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?”

Kindness leads. Love leads. Repentance follows.

Conviction without love produces shame. Conviction wrapped in love produces surrender.

Love is not weak. Love protects. Love guides. Love corrects with the right motive. Love restores.

Revival is sustained by love.

God’s Love Through Us: Influence Established

John 13:34–35
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Not by noise. Not by controversy. Not by clicks. By love.

Galatians 5:6
“The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”

Love activates faith. Love releases power. Love reforms culture.

Micah 6:8
“He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

This is love with backbone. Love with truth, as Ephesians 4:15 teaches. Love with strength.

Romans 8:38–39 assures us that nothing can separate us from the love of God. As we remain in Him, as John 15:9 calls us to do, this love cannot be stripped or silenced.

When love leads a church, families are healed. Communities are reconciled. Cities shift. Nations feel it.

In 2026, love will mark our worship. Love will mark our leadership. Love will mark our culture.

Covenant Love at the Table

Communion is not ritual. It is covenant love made visible.

The bread declares the love that was broken for you. The cup declares the love that was poured out for you.

When we come to the table, we remember that love gave, love served, love sacrificed, love forgave, and love reconciled.

The table demands unity. The table demands reconciliation. The table demands love.

If 2026 is a love revival, then our communion with God and with one another must reflect that love.

Every time we take the bread and the cup, we declare: Love leads.

The word for 2026 is clear.

A love revival.
A revival of love.
A love revolution.
A love reformation.

God’s love for us establishes identity.
God’s love in us establishes strength and stability.
God’s love through us establishes influence.

We will not be led by fear. We will be led by love.

And when love leads a people, everything changes.

Prayer

Father,

Thank You that You are love. Thank You for loving us before we ever loved You. Root us deeply in Your love in 2026. Pour Your love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Heal shame, break fear and anchor our identity as sons and daughters. Let Your love flow through us to our families, our church, our city and our nation. May love mark our worship, leadership, and our lives. Let a love revival begin in us and move through us.

In Jesus' name,
Amen
