Entry Requirements

Successful completion of Diploma of Leadership or equivalent.

English Proficiency

Applicants whose entry qualifications were obtained in an institution where English is not the language of instruction normally require a minimum IELTS (or equivalent) score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in all bands of the test. A student can be admitted provisionally into the Associate Degree of Theology and Ministry when they have an IELTS result of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in all bands of the test.

Future Pathways

The completed Associate Degree of Theology and Ministry can be used as credit equivalent to the second year of a Bachelor of Theology or Bachelor of Ministry.

Subject Outline

Early Church History traces Christian history from Christ, to the birth of the Pentecostal movement. While students are being introduced to the rich history and tradition of the Christian Church, they will focus on the heroes and villains of the faith. This subject is also intended to impart a deeper knowledge of Pentecostal heritage as well. Students will learn; key figures in the Christian Church; doctrinal disputes; the creeds; the reformation and various renewal movements within modern Church history.

Personal Transformation explores the intersection of theology and psychology as we journey through topics such as suffering and the effects of trauma on humanity. This unit will look to scripture as a basis for God’s pathway for healing and wholeness in us as tripartite sons and daughters. In the context of this discussion, this unit will focus on emotionally healthy spirituality, the renewed mind, and stewarding the body for fruitful labour without burnout.

Arguably the apex of Pauline thought, not to mention the New Testament theology, the letter to the Romans offers the clearest and fullest teaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is an exegetical unit that will give students deeper insights into the historical situation of 1st century Christianity, the problems facing the emerging gentile church and the enduring truth of the Christian message.

Is a subject which teaches students how to think about making ethical decisions through various ethical frameworks. Students will be exposed to several ethical frameworks and their strengths and weaknesses, learn to think critically through them and assess their usefulness in a given scenario. This unit will teach students to consider their Christian ethic and how it answers the various contemporary issues in the 21st Century.

Is the second of two serving subjects and expands upon Supervised Ministry 1. This unit places our students in the activity of their local church. It enables them to volunteer one day a week as part of their internship and develop the skills needed to best serve your church. This subject formalizes the internship aspect of their Associate Degree and keeps their work practical. Serving for this subject may include; pastoral care; creative ministry; youth ministry; kids ministry; church conferences or anything that your church has a need for.
