Scripture
For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Devotion
Have you ever had a stiff neck, a sore back, or hip pain while you are walking? That’s because the posture of your body affects how you walk! In fact, your posture significantly impacts how you move. Poor posture can lead to inefficient movement, muscle fatigue, and increased risk of injury, while good posture promotes better balance, energy conservation, and overall walking efficiency!
That’s the same with our spiritual posture in Christ — how we perceive ourselves in relation to God and the Divine Authority He has given us. Many of us, despite being children of the Most High God, walk through life with a spiritual slump. We may feel inadequate, overcome by circumstances, or simply unaware of the incredible position we hold in Christ. We forget that in Him, we are not mere survivors, but “more than conquerors” (Romans 8:37). We forget that God “raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 2:6).
Consider what it means to be “seated with Him in the heavenly realms.” This isn’t just a future promise; it’s a present reality. It speaks of a position of rest, authority, and victory. When we truly grasp this, our spiritual posture begins to change. We no longer walk in fear or timidity, but with the boldness and confidence of those who know their King.
So, how does this translate into our daily walk?
- Consciously Shift Your Posture: Just as you might physically adjust your stance, consciously adjust your spiritual posture. Remind yourself daily of who you are in Christ. You are loved, redeemed, empowered, and equipped!
- Walk in Confidence, Not Pride: True confidence in God is not self-centred; it’s God-centred. It’s knowing that because He is with you, you can face challenges with courage and grace.
- Speak with Authority: When you pray, speak God’s promises over your life and circumstances with the authority He has given you. When you encounter opposition, stand firm in faith, knowing that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for raising us up with Christ and seating us with Him in the heavenly realms!
Help us to consciously adjust our spiritual posture, standing tall in the truth of who we are in You.
May we walk with confidence, not in our own strength, but in and with the divine authority that flows from Your Spirit within us.
Amen!
