DAY 29: WALKING WITH AUTHORITY

Planetshakers Team 8 July 2025

Scripture

Colossians 3:17 NLT
And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Devotion

Let’s continue the flavour from the last few days.

Walking with Divine Authority isn’t about being a boss or the most important person in the room — it’s about walking every moment in the name of Jesus and truly knowing the authority He has given you! When you understand this authority, it changes the way you walk, the way you talk, and the way you carry yourself.

Paul says in Colossians that whatever we do — whether in word or action — we are to do it in the name of the Lord Jesus. That means we represent His name in every conversation, decision, and response. We don’t just speak about Jesus; we speak with His authority — with the name that is above every other name!

Before I fully understood this, I used to shrink back in situations where I felt unsure or insecure. Whether it was a conversation where truth needed to be spoken, or a moment that required prayer or leadership, I often let fear or doubt lead me instead of walking in the confidence of who Christ made me to be. However, as I began to be set free from this fear and understand that I carried Jesus’ name and could walk in His authority, my behaviour began to change! My words became more intentional, my prayers became bolder, and I stopped apologising for the authority I’d been given! Suddenly, I was walking in His authority!

This is how God has invited us all to live — walking with great confidence in His authority. Today, why don’t you ask God to show you areas of your heart where fear and insecurity have been standing in the way of you walking with His authority?

Prayer

Thank You, Lord, that in Your name is all authority, and I get to walk with the authority of Your name.

I come out of agreement with any fear and insecurity that I have partnered with, and instead, I agree with the truth of Your Word.

Help me today to do and say everything as a representative of Your Kingdom and walk with Your authority.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
