Again, we’re going to continue this flow of talking about Divine Authority with the Holy Spirit.
I remember a time in my life when I felt completely overwhelmed. Among other things, I was struggling with my studies. I stayed up late and sacrificed sleep to finish university assignments — working hard, but still getting nowhere. I was mentally drained and physically exhausted.
One night, I was sitting in my room with tears streaming down my face when I cried out to God. I knew that all the responsibilities I was juggling were good things — things He had blessed me with, opportunities He had given me. But in that moment, I just couldn’t shake the feeling that I was carrying these burdens all on my own, and I simply couldn’t do it anymore.
Then God spoke to me so clearly: “I am with you.”
A simple truth — but one that brought so much freedom. I realised I wasn’t making room for God to help me. He had always been there with me, but I’d never asked. It was like I was playing solo in a team game. That shift in perspective led me to start asking Him for help in everything I did:
“Lord, which equation should I use here?”
“How should I frame this report?”
“How do I support this friend who’s going through a hard time?”
Let me tell you — it is so much easier to do things with God’s help! Why was I doing it the hard way?
God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us. He’s ready to guide, strengthen, and walk with us through everything. But here’s the key — we have to make room for Him to do it.
So, have you been trying to do it all on your own? Take a moment to reflect on the simple truth that God is with you, and His Spirit is here to help. How might your perspective shift if you invited the Holy Spirit into your struggle today?
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit, my Helper.
Forgive me for trying to carry everything on my own. When I feel overwhelmed, remind me that You are with me. Help me to lean on You in every moment.
In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.
