Have you ever noticed how we often add “in Jesus’ name, Amen” at the end of our prayers without really thinking about it? Almost like a spiritual punctuation mark? It’s easy to do, and there’s nothing wrong with it. But what if we paused to consider what those words truly mean? When Jesus told us to ask “in His name,” He wasn’t asking us to insert a secret code; it’s an invitation into something much deeper — His divine authority, His character, His mission.
Think of it like this: if a messenger of a king goes to another land “in the king’s name,” they’re not just there speaking their own opinions. They’re carrying the full weight and power of the king himself! Philippians 2 reminds us that Jesus’ name is above every other name — a name that makes even the heavens, earth, and underworld bow! It’s the name that carries the highest authority, and it’s not just for big, dramatic moments in our prayers. Colossians 3:17 teaches us that in everything we do, every word we speak, and every action we take, we should do it in Jesus’ name!
Living in Jesus’ name means our daily choices, big or small, can become expressions of His will and purpose. When life throws you curveballs, instead of feeling overwhelmed, we can remember that it is in Jesus’ name that He dismantles fear and empowers us to stand firm.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You that everything I need is found in YOUR NAME! Thank You that Your name is powerful, the name above every name, carrying the highest authority. I thank You that I have access to that name. I thank You that I get to live in this divine authority as I bring honour and glory to Your name.
In JESUS’ name,
Amen!
