DAY 16: DECLARING THE AUTHORITY OF GOD’S WORD

Planetshakers Team 8 July 2025

Scripture

Isaiah 55:10-11 NLT
“The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

Devotion

God’s Word is truth and the ultimate authority in our lives. By His Word, He created the heavens and the earth and brought life to every living thing (Hebrews 11:3). Jesus “gave the word” and the centurion’s servant was healed at another location, without any other intervention (see Matthew 8:5–13). His Word still carries the same life-giving authority as we declare it today!

As we learn to live IN Divine Authority, we need to be people who declare the authority of God’s Word over our lives. The Bible is full of promises from God about the things we go through in our daily lives. But they’re not just there to encourage us—they have the authority to actually change our circumstances as we declare them.

So, if you are facing a challenge in your health today, you can either talk about it… or… you can get a promise from God’s Word and declare it over your body (like Psalm 103:3). If you are feeling anxious or afraid, you can speak negatively out of that emotion… or… you can use the authority of God’s Word (like Romans 8:15) and see those feelings change!

If you feel like you don’t know where to turn in the Bible for something you’re going through, reach out to your Urban Life Coach and get some suggestions. Even something as simple as Googling, “What does the Bible say about…” can help!

Prayer

Father, thank You that Your Word has authority. It never returns void! Help me to know Your Word and to declare it over my life today.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
