Scripture
For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.
Devotion
Our identity as sons and daughters of God is not just a comforting thought—it’s a powerful spiritual reality. Through Christ, we are adopted into God’s family—not as servants or outsiders, but as heirs with full rights. This changes everything. We no longer need to live in fear or strive to earn God’s approval. Instead, we are led by His Spirit and can relate to Him as a loving Father.
This identity brings authority. Just as earthly children carry the name and access of their family, we carry the authority of our Heavenly Father.
Since we are in Christ, what belongs to Him is also made available to us: peace, joy, freedom, overwhelming victory, abundance, and more. We’re not powerless spectators in life—we are positioned with purpose.
Living in divine authority begins with being rooted in divine identity. It’s often easy to forget who we are and whose we are. When challenges come, let’s pause and realign. We are not slaves to fear—we are children of God. We have His Spirit, His Name, and His divine authority.
Let’s ask ourselves today: Am I living from my identity as a son or daughter, or from a place of fear and uncertainty? What would shift if I truly believed I am an heir of God and co-heir with Christ?
Prayer
Father, thank You that I am Your child.
Help me live from this truth—not as a slave to fear, but as a son or daughter filled with Your Spirit. Remind me daily that I belong to You, and that You’ve given me authority to walk in freedom, confidence, and love.
Amen.
