Devotion
As believers, we don’t just live under God’s divine authority—we are also invited to live IN His divine authority. If we are in Christ, we are a new creation. This means our old way of living, speaking, and thinking is gone, and a new way has arrived!
I remember a time in my life when I rededicated my heart to God after running from Him for many years. I knew I was forgiven and genuinely desired to leave my old life behind, but I was living powerlessly—trapped by the old patterns of doubt and unbelief—not truly believing I was a new creation.
I knew in my mind that God wanted to set me free and change me, but the reality felt distant and unachievable. That is, until some leaders in my life began to encourage me that when I said yes to Jesus, I didn’t just receive forgiveness—I became someone brand new! I was reborn by the Spirit, and my old identity was buried with Christ.
I needed to break the lie that I could never change, and instead agree with God’s Word, which declares: I am a new creation!
Perhaps you’ve felt the same at times—stuck in that space between knowing the Word and seeing it outworked in your life. But when we step into agreement with God’s Word and into the position of being in Christ, we begin to see our thoughts, actions, and beliefs come into alignment with His truth.
You are a new creation, and you now live in Him. That means you don’t just live under God’s authority—you walk in it. Because Christ lives in you!
Prayer
Dear God,
Today I come into agreement with Your Word—that I am a new creation, my old ways have gone, and the new has come! I reject the lies of the enemy that say I won’t or can’t change, and instead I agree with You, Lord: I am in Christ, and so I live in Your authority.
Amen.
