Luke 10:16-20 NLT
Then he said to the disciples, “Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me.”
When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!”
“Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.”

Devotion
As we have been learning to live under, with, and in authority, it’s now time to look at the Divine Authority that Jesus has given us to live out!
Jesus told us that as His disciples, He has given us authority over all the power of the enemy! Do we really believe those amazing words? We can overcome anything we face as we live out this authority!
Ps Scott tells this awesome story from one of our first Believe mission trips in PNG. Ps Tim had been ministering powerfully, and they had all seen many miracles during the trip. It was the last night, and Ps Tim was preaching, saying that at the end of the message the sick would be healed. But then he finished preaching, walked off stage, handed Scott the microphone, and said, “You’re up, Scotty.”
In that moment, Ps Scott had to make a decision. Did he believe that only certain people like Ps Tim could walk in authority to see miracles? Or did he really believe Jesus’ words — that he too had received that authority and could live it out?
Even though he had been put on the spot, he knew what he believed! That night, he and the team stepped out and saw so many miracles as they operated out of that authority.
And we can do the same today! Maybe you’re not on a mission trip this week, and maybe you haven’t just been given the microphone. But there are people all around you — at work, in your family, on the street, and in your Urban Life — that God wants to use you to minister to, out of His authority.
Prayer
Jesus, I believe Your Word! I receive authority over all the power of the enemy today. I receive Your authority to heal the sick, to cast out demons, and to walk in the miraculous.
Help me to live out Your authority today!
