Have you ever felt completely unqualified for what God is calling you to do?
Like you don’t have the skills, the confidence, or the past to back it up? Or maybe you’ve wondered if God chose the wrong person for the job?
That’s exactly how Moses felt when he encountered God at the burning bush. It was a remarkable and unforgettable moment—God speaks to Moses directly from a bush that’s on fire but doesn’t burn up. Holy ground. Divine encounter. A direct call from Heaven. And what does Moses do? He panics.
God tells him, “I’m sending you to Pharaoh to bring My people out of Egypt.”
But Moses says, “Who am I that I should go?” (Exodus 3:11)
Then he says, “What if they don’t believe me?” (Exodus 4:1)
Then, “I’m not good with words. I never have been.” (Exodus 4:10)
Finally, “Please, Lord, send someone else.” (Exodus 4:13)
He stands face to face with the presence of God—and yet, all he can see is his own inadequacy.
Sound familiar? Isn’t that how we sometimes respond when God chooses to use us to show His glory? But thankfully, God doesn’t change His mind. He doesn’t need Moses to be impressive—He just needs Moses to trust that His presence is enough.
God doesn’t need our qualifications or check our résumé. All He needs is our yes. He doesn’t wait for us to have it all together before He calls us. He doesn’t choose us because we’re qualified—He qualifies us because we’re chosen.
For every excuse we could ever give—every fear, flaw, insecurity and failure—God answers with a simple, powerful promise: “I will be with you.” (Exodus 3:12) And maybe… that’s not just enough. That is all we need to see our sphere of society transformed.
Prayer
God, I ask for Your forgiveness if I’ve ever allowed my insecurities to get in the way of Your plans. If I’ve believed in my own ability—or lack of it—instead of trusting You and saying yes to Your calling.
I come under Your authority, Lord, and today, I say YES to You again.
