It Is Written
This message explores the power and authority of God’s Word, encouraging believers to move from simply reading Scripture to declaring it in faith. Through biblical truth, real-life testimony, and practical illustrations, we are reminded that the Word of God is alive, provides direction, and has unmatched authority to transform our lives.
There’s power in the written Word of God. In Matthew 4, Jesus responds to temptation in the wilderness not with reasoning, not with emotions, but with these three words: “It is written.” Every time the enemy came at Him, He stood firm on Scripture. And by the third temptation, the devil had to flee. Why? Because the Word of God is not just text on a page — it's alive, active, and filled with divine authority. Today, I want to stir your heart to fall in love with the Word again — to read it, believe it, and declare it over your life.
“For the word of God is alive and active...”
— Hebrews 4:12
The Bible isn’t just a book — it’s a living mirror that reflects who we really are. As James 1 says, it’s like looking into a mirror that reveals the condition of our hearts. Dwight Moody once said, “The Bible was given not for our information but for our transformation.” God’s Word is not meant to sit on a shelf. It’s meant to be hidden deep in our hearts — like David said in Psalm 119:11, “I have hidden your word in my heart.”
“Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.”
— John 17:17
Truth is exclusive. God’s Word doesn’t change with culture or opinion. What we believe to be true shapes our words, actions, and choices. I once believed as a kid that if I swallowed a fruit seed, a tree would grow in me. Sounds silly now, but I lived in fear because of a lie I thought was true.
In the same way, many of us may be living under false “truth statements” that don’t line up with God’s Word. But the truth of Scripture never fails — Isaiah 55:11 says God’s Word will not return empty. It will accomplish His purpose.
And God’s Word is not just true — it’s also a seed. When planted in the right soil — our hearts — it transforms us. But remember, the power isn’t in the soil; it’s in the seed. Let’s remove distractions and let the Word take root.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
— Psalm 119:105
Sometimes we ask God, “Where do I go next?” But He doesn’t always show us the full roadmap. Why? Because it’s never really about the plan — it’s about relationship. We were created for intimacy with God. And as we walk with Him, His Word becomes our light. One step at a time.
We also live in a noisy world — voices everywhere, opinions shouting. But the problem isn’t that God isn’t speaking. The real issue is we’re often listening to everything else. Bring God’s Word close. Let it drown out the noise. You’ll hear His voice more clearly than ever.
“At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow...”
— Philippians 2:10
The word authority comes from the same root as author. The Word has power because of the One who wrote it. The One who spoke galaxies into being, who formed you, who died for you — He’s the Author. The Word of God holds intrinsic authority — whether we believe it or not. But when we mix it with faith, it becomes active in our lives.
Twelve years ago, I was a new believer tormented by fear every night. I kept quoting Psalm 27:1 — “The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear?” But I still felt afraid. Until one night, God asked me, “Do you really believe it?” And in that moment, something shifted. I chose to believe — not blindly, but with childlike faith. That night, I slept in peace for the first time. I’ve never looked back.
Let’s stop treating the Bible like just another book. Let it come alive in us. Let it be our weapon in battle, our compass in confusion, and our comfort in pain. Turn to the Word. Declare the Word. Believe the Word.
As Jesus said in the wilderness: “It is written.” That’s enough.
Thank you for the power and truth of Your Word. Today, I choose to hide it deep within my heart. I believe that every promise You have spoken is true — not just for others, but for me. I declare that Your Word is alive and active in my life. It lights my path, shapes my thinking, and strengthens my spirit. Where there is fear, I declare peace. Where there is uncertainty, I declare clarity. I choose to stand on Your truth, not the opinions of the world. Let Your Word be more than just written pages — let it be my daily bread, my anchor, and my sword.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
