In the same way that Jesus is the ultimate fulfilment of the Passover lamb, He is also the Bread of Life. As John 6:33 says, He is the bread of God sent from heaven to give life to the world. In the same way as He is the water which if you drink, you shall never be thirsty again (John 4:13-14), He is the Bread of Life which if we eat of, we will never be hungry.

Jesus says whilst being tempted by Satan in the wilderness that man cannot live on physical bread alone, but is ultimately sustained by the Word of God. (Matthew 4:4) Jesus is our sustainer and our spiritual food, with Him we have eternal life.

Prayer

Jesus, I thank You that You are my sustainer and the giver of life. You are the bread from heaven with which we will never hunger again. I ask that You sustain and bless me, my family and my church.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Read

The Passover to the Lord comes in the first month, at twilight on the fourteenth day of the month. The Festival of Unleavened Bread to the Lord is on the fifteenth day of the same month. For seven days you must eat unleavened bread. On the first day you are to hold a sacred assembly; you are not to do any daily work. You are to present a fire offering to the Lord for seven days. On the seventh day there will be a sacred assembly; you must not do any daily work.

Leviticus 23:5-8 (HCSB)

“For the bread of God is the One who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” Then they said, “Sir, give us this bread always! ” “I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again.

John 6:33-35 (HCSB)
