Welcome to Planetshakers City Church. Since it’s foundation in February 2004, this church has seen considerable growth across all ministries, and under Senior Pastors Russell and Sam’s leadership, discipleship and vision, Planetshakers City Church continues to see this generation empowered.

With a strong biblical foundation, Planetshakers City Church is driven by the belief that God has the power to transform and revolutionise the lives of all people, propelling them into their God-given destiny.

With 12 core members of the initial team who moved to Melbourne from Adelaide, the Planetshakers Team is now made up of over 60 full time staff members, all working together to reach out, impact and empower the community through various ministries.

RUSSELL AND SAM EVANS

Russell and Sam Evans are the Senior Pastors of Planetshakers City Church in Melbourne, Australia. Their desire is to see each person empowered by the Holy Spirit to reach their God-given destiny.

In 1997 they founded Planetshakers Ministries, launching Planetshakers Conference in Adelaide, South Australia, with 300 delegates. They have seen it grow to over 20,000 national delegates, and in 2008 they launched a fresh vision for Planetshakers Conference, extending the breath of the conference to include ministry for University aged, young adults through to mature aged believers.

In 2002 Russell and Sam felt God call them to relocate to Melbourne, Victoria, to establish a church in the heart of the city. On February 8, 2004 Planetshakers City Church was launched in Melbourne with a vision to impact and influence the communities throughout the state. God has blessed the ministry of Russell & Sam, through Planetshakers City Church as they see over 5,000 people come together on a Sunday.

The core mandate from God that drives them continues to stand.. “To empower generations to win generations.”

Russell and Sam reside in Melbourne, Australia and have two children, Jonathan and Aimee.

MANDATE AND VISION

Planetshakers City Church is a church for this generation. It is filled with vibrant, enthusiastic, passionate people with the focus to champion the cause of Christ.



Founded in 2004 by Ps Russell and Sam Evans, it has flourished under their leadership that has a firm foundation on the word of God, the Bible. Their desire is to see each person empowered by the Holy Spirit to reach their God-given destiny, and the kingdom of God established and therefore bring the positive influence of the gospel of Christ to their society through word and deed.

The church is known for its love and acceptance, passionate praise and worship, its inspirational preaching of God’s word and acts of the Holy Spirit. Its members are very active with a high volunteer base, helping the church to function and reach the wider community with the love of Christ through acts of kindness and the power of God.

Planetshakers City Church has a vision to bring Christ to their world because..

“the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,

because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor,

He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted,

to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,

to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour and the day of

vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,

and provide for those who grieve in Zion – to bestow to them

a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for morning,

and a garment of praise instead of the spirit of despair.

They will be called mighty oaks, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe that the Bible is God's inspired Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our every day lives.

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory over every sin, sickness and limitation and empower us for life and life to the full.

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the 'new birth' we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, confess our belief in Him and submit to His will for our lives.

We believe that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptised in water and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to walk in the fruits of the spirit and use spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues, which is the initial evidence of baptism in the Holy Spirit. We believe the gifts are for every believer.

We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, fulfil our role in the Church and serve the community in which we live.

We believe that God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live healthy and prosperous lives in order to help others more effectively. We believe that the price paid by Jesus Christ on the cross was sufficient to heal us of every sickness and disease. We also believe in His power to heal the heart and mind thus enabling us to live wholly and complete.

We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.

OUR STORY

Planetshakers City Church began its journey in February, 2004. Ps Russell and Sam Evans moved from Adelaide, South Australia to follow the call of God to plant a vibrant, passionate church that would fulfil the mandate ‘to empower a generation, to win a generation.’ The opening service of Planetshakers City Church (then Melbourne City Church) saw 900 people pack out Storey Hall as Ps Rich Wilkerson brought the word of God to Planetshakers City Church for the first time. Along with an initial team of 12 the church quickly grew and flourished under their care and leadership. Finding big enough venues to cater for the rapid growth became a challenge as more and more people heard the reports of God healing and transforming lives through the powerful praise and worship, dynamic preaching of God’s word and the personal encounters with Jesus.

Over the years Planetshakers City Church services have been held in venues across the city of Melbourne such as: Storey Hall (RMIT), Capitol Theatre, Arrow on Swanston, Melbourne High School, Melbourne Town Hall, and more regularly the church home is Dallas Brooks Centre in East Melbourne.

It continues to impact the community through its various ministries which include programmes for children, youth, university students, families, single parents, women and business minded people.
