MUSIC
SELINA MOK - Guitar
Selina has had fifteen years of experience playing the electric and acoustic guitar. Her experience includes touring and performing at many different festivals, concerts and churches in Victoria and around Australia. She has also been a session guitarist for a number of artists for a range of albums, she has also co-written and produced for many different artists. Selina is passionate about taking students to the next level and seeing them achieve their goals.
MICHAEL “Rudy” NIKKERUD - Bass
Mike is a qualified musician with comprehensive musical training and experience. He is multi-skilled as an instrumentalist specialising in double bass, electric bass, piano, and guitar. Since completing a Bachelor of Music, Mike has had the opportunity to embrace and work professionally in many different genres of music including: classical, jazz, and rock, pop, country, Latin and gospel. Over the years he has gained invaluable experience travelling to the US and receiving lessons from some of the world’s best players. As a teacher, Mike’s expertise and training coupled with his passion for music assists every student to develop a higher level of skill and ability. Knowledge of many different musical styles helps his students to become well rounded, competent musicians.
NATALIE RUIZ - Voice
Natalie is a highly trained vocalist and teacher. Her early involvement in the industry began at age fifteen with her first radio commercial and live album appearance on Youth Alive South Australia’s album, “Fire it up”. Since then she has continued singing professionally as a session vocalist in a wide range of settings, as well as backing well known artists and bands. As a musician and teacher, Natalie is highly educated in her craft since completing a Bachelor of Music in Jazz voice at the Elder conservatorium. In every part of her teaching, Natalie has a passion to see people reach their full potential and aims to equip them to be the best they can. For over 10 years, Natalie has been working as a voice/music teacher within schools and various performing arts academies. She specialises in solo performance as well as directing many vocal ensembles.
NATALIE CARGER - Voice
Having taught voice for over ten years, Natalie has a wealth of knowledge to offer her students. She studied Jazz Voice at the Elder Conservatorium and has over 8 years of solid technique training. Natalie is well equipped to challenge and inspire even the most advanced vocalist. With a heavy emphasis on correct vocal technique, she is experienced with re-training incorrect singing habits. Natalie has been singing professionally in vocal groups, gospel groups, church worship teams, and for large corporate events for many years. It is this background in group vocals, which accurately and passionately enables her to teach vocal ensembles. She always seeks to empower the individual to achieve more than ever thought possible.
NATHAN WHITTON – Piano
Music has been an integral part of Nathan’s life since the age of four, and ever since this age he has played the piano with a natural ability. By the age of 21 Nathan had toured internationally as a concert pianist, winning numerous international competitions. He has had the privilege of performing with the Victorian State Orchestra and the Sydney Youth Orchestra on many occasions. Nathan is a qualified musician with a Diploma of Jazz Performance and a Bachelor of Music from The University of Melbourne. He has also performed and worked with many national and international pop artists giving him a firm understanding in all aspects of music and playing the piano. Nathan has been teaching for 5 years in all genres including classical, jazz and pop.
ANDREW HARRISON – Drums
Andrew began playing the drums at the age of 6, and after showing a natural flare for the instrument, was soon playing for many church and community events. By the time he was thirteen, Andrew was playing at state-wide events such as Youth Alive and had won several national competitions. Such experiences led to his exposure and training from some of the world’s best players and performers, as well as recognition within the national drumming community. With a particularly strong technical background, Andrew offers expertise in a wide range of musical genres and is committed to seeing students excel in all of their musical endeavours.
CLAUDINE BRYANT – Voice
Claudine is passionate about teaching music as it has been her dream since the age of 9. She has a Bachelor of Music from Elder Conservatorium (University of Adelaide) majoring in Education and Jazz Performance (voice), and a Graduate Diploma of Education from Monash University. As a qualified classroom music teacher Claudine has taught all year levels in secondary schools including VCE and has functioned as head of music departments. She has lead choral and instrumental groups in schools and churches, as well as directing school musical productions. For many years Claudine has also provided individual vocal, theory and piano tuition to people of all ages, including teaching voice at a tertiary level. With a broad musical knowledge in the areas of jazz, classical and contemporary, choral and instrumental, music history, theory and aural, arranging and transcribing, Claudine has a lot to offer to students who want a well rounded musical education.
NATALIE BOX – Voice
Natalie began singing at age nine in the Victorian Children’s Choir and began singing professionally 7 years ago. Her experience includes performances in bands and duos in Australia, Asia and America as well as studying Vocal Performance at Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA. From large ensembles to corporate duos, gospel choirs to church worship teams, Natalie has had a wide range of experience from which to train and inspire others; and having worked as kindergarten and primary school music teacher in Hong Kong, she is passionate about teaching and seeing people grow in their gifts.
